Terms of Service

Marginal (“we”, “us”) provides an analytics app for Shopify merchants at usemarginal.com. By installing or using Marginal, a merchant (“you”) agrees to these Terms. Marginal is currently operated by an individual, not a registered company -- if that changes, this page will be updated to reflect the new entity.

Marginal connects to a merchant's Shopify store and the ad platforms they choose to connect (Meta, Google Ads, TikTok Ads, Pinterest Ads), and computes reconciled analytics -- revenue, blended CAC/ROAS, and margin -- from that data. What Marginal displays depends on the data made available by Shopify and those ad platforms; we aren't responsible for inaccuracies in the underlying data itself.

Marginal offers three paid plans -- Starter, Growth, and Pro -- each billed monthly. New subscriptions start with a 14-day free trial; no charge is made until the trial ends. All billing is handled through Shopify's own subscription billing (the Shopify AppSubscription API) -- Marginal never collects or stores payment card details directly.

You can cancel at any time from within the app or by uninstalling it from your Shopify admin. Cancellation stops future billing at the end of the current billing period. We don't offer refunds for partial or unused periods, including the remainder of a period after cancellation. Switching between plans takes effect immediately and is billed at the new plan's rate going forward.

You agree not to:

• Use Marginal for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that violates Shopify's own terms of service.
• Attempt to breach, disable, or circumvent Marginal's security or access controls.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except where applicable law expressly permits it.
• Use Marginal to interfere with or disrupt the service for other merchants.

What data Marginal collects, how it's used, and how it's deleted is covered in our Privacy Policy and Data Processing Agreement, both incorporated into these Terms by reference.

Marginal is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the analytics it produces will be free of inaccuracies -- Marginal is a decision-support tool, not financial or accounting advice.

To the extent permitted by law, Marginal's total liability for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost profits or lost data.

You may stop using Marginal at any time by uninstalling it or disconnecting your store from within the app. We may suspend or terminate access if these Terms are violated, or if we discontinue the service, with notice where reasonably possible. Uninstalling or disconnecting your store triggers the data deletion described in our Privacy Policy.

If these Terms change materially, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Marginal after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

If a disagreement comes up, contact us first at the email below -- we'll work with you to resolve it directly. Marginal is currently a small, single-operator app without a formal registered entity or named jurisdiction; this section will be updated once that changes.
